I wrote Moving on Up from wrestling mats, schoolyard dreams, Whittier Boulevard and the friends who stayed loyal as we grew older, built lives and carried the barrio with us.

True friendship moves with you.

The origin

Wrestling mats, schoolyard dreams and Whittier Boulevard form the beginning of a friendship story that continues as the crew grows older and builds new lives. Moving up is not presented as leaving the barrio behind, but as carrying its loyalty and lessons forward together.
