02 / Know

Know the Story

Behind the glamour, the work still has to hold the room.

I drew She’s All Talk from the Sunset Strip in 1988, when the Whisky a Go Go and Gazzarri’s held bands and nights I remember as lived history rather than borrowed nostalgia.

This is not nostalgia. It is history.

The origin

The song returns to the Sunset Strip in 1988—to the Whisky a Go Go, Gazzarri’s and nights when bands had to earn the room. Eric, Kenny, Todd and Mark become part of a memory about owning the stage, the audience, the music and the beat while recognizing the difference between real presence and empty glamour.

Feel the Soul

What I want you to feel.

Attention and confidence can create an image, but substance is proved through the work. Staying true to your own ability matters more than performing the appearance of fame.
